Jillian Keiley has directed and taught across Canada and internationally and was awarded Honorary Doctorates of Letters from both Memorial University and York University. She was the winner of the Siminovitch Prize for Directing in 2004 and the Canada Council’s John Hirsch Prize in 1997. Jillian was the first Artistic Director of Artistic Fraud, founded along with the team from In Your Dreams, Freud. Other highlights from Artistic Fraud include Under Wraps, AfterImage, The Cheat, Fear of Flight, The Chekhov Variations, Salvage: Story of a House and I Forgive You. Jillian served as the Artistic Director of English Theatre at the National Arts Centre from 2012 to 2022. Her productions at the NAC included Between Breaths (Artistic Fraud), The Colony of Unrequited Dreams (Artistic Fraud), A Christmas Carol, Twelfth Night (as imagined by the Old Trout Puppet Workshop), Metamorphoses: Based on the Myths of Ovid, Tartuffe, Copenhagen and Oil and Water (Artistic Fraud). She also directed Bakkhai, The Diary of Anne Frank, As You Like It, The Neverending Story and Alice Through the Looking-Glass for the Stratford Festival, the latter two produced as collaborations with the NAC. Tempting Providence, her collaboration with Robert Chafe for Theatre Newfoundland Labrador, toured internationally for 12 years. Her production of Tell Tale Harbour at the Confederation Centre for the Arts tours to St. John’s in the fall.

Mallory Fisher is a writer, theatre director, actor, and arts educator based in St. John’s. Mallory holds a BFA in Musical Theatre Performance from the Boston Conservatory and an MFA in Theatre Performance Creation from York University. Their play motherskin premiered at the LSPU Hall in June 2022 and was produced by White Rooster Theatre and Resource Centre for the Arts. They are the Artistic Director of Shakespeare by the Sea and they currently teach acting at MUNL for the Stage and Screen Diploma and at CNA in the TV & Film Department.

Santiago Guzmán (he/him/they) is an award-winning playwright, dramaturge, performer, and director originally from Metepec, Mexico, now based in St. John’s, NL. He is the Artistic Director of TODOS Productions & the Artistic Associate for Playwrights Atlantic Resource Centre.
Santiago’s work as a writer aims to put local, under-represented narratives and characters on the frontlines, whilst inviting audiences to appreciate the vibrancy of Newfoundland and Labrador from a diverse perspective. Their work has been supported, developed and/or produced by theatre companies and festivals such as TODOS Productions (NL), Resource Centre for the Arts Theatre Company (NL), Artistic Fraud of Newfoundland (NL), Rising Tide Theatre (NL), Neighbourhood Dance Works (NL), Eastern Front Theatre (NS), PARC (pan-Atlantic), Ship's Company Theatre (NS), Theatre New Brunswick (NB), Boca Del Lupo (BC), Paprika Festival (ON), and the National Theatre School of Canada’s Art Apart Program (QC). Most recently, Santiago’s play Urn received the Senior Dramatic Script Award of the Newfoundland and Labrador 2022 Arts and Letters Awards & was shortlisted for the NLCU Fresh Fish Award 2022. Crystal Laffoley is a stage manager, production manager, and arts administrator based in St. John’s. A graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada’s, she regularly returns to NTS as a coach for the Production Design & Technical Arts Program. Her career has taken her across Canada, working on stages indoors and out, including touring productions, classical texts, new works, puppet shows, musicals, dance pieces, sketch comedy, contemporary plays, festivals, multimedia projects, and digital shows. Crystal is currently the Associate Producer at Artistic Fraud.

"TELL: A story-making and creative writing workshop for youth" with Stacy Gardner

Ages: 11-16
This two-hour workshop, requiring only a favourite writing pen/pencil, notebook, and imagination, provides young people with a fun and engaging way to create their own 'telling' through the use of prompts, props, and playfulness. The focus will not be on spelling or grammar but on how easy language can be used to entertain, educate and engage, and the simple joy of accessing words to Tell a Tale.

Stacy Gardner has been facilitating fun, creative, and engaging writing workshops for youth and adults for more than 20 years, having spent a decade doing so at Covenant House in Toronto. Her workshops have also been facilitated for the Women's Works Playwrights Festival, St. John's Women's Council, and independently from her home in St. John's. Stacy produced and directed for the St. John's Short Play Festival, a TYP titled TELL in 2019, and also was the playwright of, After the Sirens, which was staged at the festival in 2018. Stacy's CBC radio play, Worms for Sale, was later adapted and staged at Toronto's Alumnae Theatre. Stacy has published poetry in various Canadian Lit journals, including ROOM magazine, for whom she reads/edits. Stacy is currently working on a short documentary film titled, The Gaze.
